Observe our wildlife
This part of the world is home to a spectacular range of tropical species. Large populations of endangered animals such as scarlet macaw and the squirrel monkey, populate the area. Groups of howler, spider and white-faced monkeys, toucans, parrots, coatis, agoutis, peccaries, tyras and even tapirs are relatively easily spotted in the area around Amanecer. The Osa is a paradise for bird watchers! You can spot the almost 460 species of birds here. Bring your binoculars.
Surf uncrowded waves
We are perfectly situated near three world class surf breaks. Calm waters make Pan Dulce the best place for swimming. It’s mellow right point break also appeals to surfers and can break for up to 300 yards on a good swell. Backwash sits next to Pan Dulce and is bordered by ancient, colossal trees. Most enjoyable to surf at low tide, the bay is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. Swimming is not advised due to strong currents. Matapalo is for the more experienced surfer. If there is a good south swell, the surfing is amazing. Surf lessons can be booked at Pan Dulce with Pollo’s Surfschool.
